Learning Discerning

A Church without discernment is a dangerous thing. As followers of Christ, we must come to the point of maturity where discernment and righteous judgement are continually in operation. We’ve been conditioned to listen for these things coming from the mouths of church leaders, but have largely forsaken the responsibility to allow these areas to […]

In Jesus Name?

“Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us…” 2 Cor. 5: 20. Paul saw believers as ambassadors for Christ and His kingdom. He believed that the lives of believers should represent the life of Jesus and of His kingdom. I happen to agree with him. When I think about […]

Transitions

My friend John just posted this on Facebook, and as soon as I saw it, I asked his permission to share it on my blog. It is a message that the church must hear & come to terms with. So, with his blessing, I’m honored to introduce you to my very good friend, John Miltenberger…

The Reason for Our Existence: Part 2

Have you ever found yourself shopping for a church online? Or have you ever happened to check out your own church’s website? Even churches that don’t have a website will usually have a bulletin, but somewhere, if you look hard enough, you’ll find a mission statement for nearly every congregation in the United States…

An Offer for the Living

My pastor tells the story of his college days, referring back to a time when he was, what I would call a bit less settled. He was well known on campus for his riff raff antics, making him a target for the local religious clubs. They were determined and competing to get him saved, and he knew it. He describes one of their rescue missions in one of the most clever exchanges that I’ve heard. I have to be honest, I wish that I had thought of this, but at least I get to be the one to tell it to you.
